Day After Tomorrow, The

USA 2004, 124 minutes
Dir. Roland Emmerich
Rating: [M]
Genres: Action/Adventure, Science Fiction / Propaganda

Topics: Disaster.

Aroview: Another disaster-spectacle revival from the makers of "Independence Day" that sees scientist Dennis Quaid trying in vain to warn the world of an impending overnight ice age, then battling his way through the elements to rescue son Jake Gyllenhaal from the New York Public Library.

The reunite-pop-and-son scenario feels at times like a desperate attempt to salvage hope from the movie’s general air of doom, so concentrate instead on scenes both scary and surreal of tidal waves overwhelming New York, oil tankers floating down city boulevards, and good guys trying desperately to outrun fastmoving temperature drops.
