Although essentially an 'exploitation' genre, films such as SHAFT and SUPERFLY, ushered in many iconic talents, classic soundtracks and a raft of popular fashions - a fact celebrated here by the likes of Pam Grier, Richard Roundtree, Larry Cohen, Quentin Tarantino and Armond White. Though short, this introduction is nicely focused - the DVD featuring extended interview footage.

3 stars (Good Enough) Unexpectedly funny & informative; well worthy watching. Great interviews with black stars - let alone Tarantino - who also has much to say! Excellent extras. Female stars are similarly exploited financially by Hollywood- see NZ Herald A34 24/08/17 ~Sandy
