Moulin Rouge
Aroview: Arch-romantic whizz-kid Baz Luhrmann celebrates truth, beauty, freedom, and Love, set in the infamous, decadent Paris nightclub, circa 1900.
An outrageously gaudy and irreverent musical-comedy pastiche, Nicole Kidman is suitably glamourous as the city's most famous courtesan, caught in between the love of a young bohemian and the obsession of a crusty blueblood. The pair don't quite have the required chemistry to really affect the heartstrings, but the production design is a show-stopper...

4 stars (Very Good) Outrageous in every sense, and overacted to the point of B-grade cabaret, but still thoroughly entertaining for music fans, and oh-so vibrant and visually unique! ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) A dazzling fantasy world, and love tragedy, the set design, costumes, and of course music, all cumulate into an original theatrical spectacle. ~GenXGirl
3 stars (Good Enough) McGregor's singing is forced but there is movement aplenty throughout the film. Jim Broadbent looks after the acting and the comedy and is always worth a star. ~tubbs
