Dreams That Money Can Buy

USA 1946, 80 minutes, C+B/W
Dir. Hans Richter
Rating: [M]
Genres: Classics, Cult

Topics: Shorts, Experimental.

Aroview: A luckless artist who sets up business as a merchant of dreams is the plot device that allows the cream of European Avant-Garde - Max Ernst, Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Fernand Leger, Alexander Calder - to contribute short film works for Dadaist contemporary, Hans Richter. Like so many true originals, this melange of surrealist experiment and B-movie thriller was dismissed at the time of release, but is fascinating in retrospect.
