Heat
Aroview: Epic bank-heist drama matches heavyweight detective Al Pacino against master-thief Robert De Niro. While this dream pairing generates the requisite sparks, its in the broader canvas that further pleasures are found. With its numerous supporting cast gems, resonant cityscapes and moody score, this is a distinctively non-flashy and mature thriller.

4 stars (Very Good) A gritty and realistic action/thriller classic, with Mann at his best. The lengthy street shoot-out resonates as one of the best of the 1990s. ~Tom H
5 stars (Exceptional) ~Mick28
4 stars (Very Good) De Niro and Pacino are good, but it is the stellar shoot-outs that lift an all-around solid film. ~Wizzums
5 stars (Exceptional) Always a pleasure. Stylish, intricate, involving. Impeccably cast down to the smallest roles. I don't think Mann has surpassed this. ~HiFi
3 stars (Good Enough) Although overlong it is very well written except the gun fight scene is over the top and just gets silly. Some good performances all round and throughout. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) ~Regando
4 stars (Very Good) one of my favorite Michael Mann films up there with manhunter & the keep ~Wyatt Earp
