USA 1971-1972, 101/92 minutes
Dir. Curtis Harrington
Rating: [R13] contains violence
Genres: Cult, Horror / Girl-centric

Topics: Mid-life.

Aroview: A double feature disc in the "Grande Dame Guignol" genre (directly inspired by WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE), with Shelley Winters hamming/slumming it mercilessly in both films directed by Curtis Harrington.

What's the Matter With Helen? (1971) stars Winters and Debbie Reynolds as two Hollywood types of the early sound era caught up in musical numbers, gory mayhem and mutual suspicion.

Whoever Slew Auntie Roo? (1972) is partly based on the fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel", focusing on a demented American widow living in her husband's English manor, who becomes obsessed with a young orphan girl who resembles her dead daughter.
