4 stars (Very Good) Pretty much a perfect noir, but it didn't grip me emotionally as some others have. Still, the dialogue, acting and cinematography are all exceptional. ~dr.strangelove

4 stars (Very Good) A ground breaking film in its time and still a top quality movie by any standards. Raymond Chandler's script still shines. Hard to believe that this film was made over 60 years ago ~Anon
