Aroview: Luminous newcomer Julia Garner plays a 15-year-old Mormon girl who flees her Utah backwater for the downtown lights of Las Vegas after discovering the thrill of pop music on a cassette tape, and her proclaimed immaculate conception by way of the Nerves’ 'Hanging on the Telephone' (the original version).
A confident feature debut from writer-director Thomas who displays a keen aesthetic and sensitivity to performance without overplaying the hipster trappings of the indie music scene. While the narrative leans a little to heavily on coincidence, it's an otherwise well-grounded, diverting tale full of repressed teenage wonderlust.

3 stars (Good Enough) Its different and that's the least you can ask of a film. Good performances from Garner and Culkin. The playing of "Hanging on the Telephone" not overdone and therefore effective.~tubbs
