	 Aroview: New Wave dir. Resnais explores unusually restrained, linear territory in this bittersweet melodrama centered around a love triangle between longtime friends. 
Originally a drawing-room play, Resnais adheres fairly rigidly to its theatrical roots, casting a loving eye to his flawed characters through the use of long-takes and elegant cinematography. Andre Dussollier's tragic, six-minute monologue is a highlight.
