I Love You, Beth Cooper

Aroview: Uneven high school comedy sees a nerd publicly profess his love for the hottest girl in school, only to have her turn up at his doorstep that night with an unexpected invitation. The paint-by-numbers story that follows is an only occasionally amusing exercise in wish-fulfillment from screenwriter Larry Doyle (a New Yorker humour writer and probable nerd), with an earnest performance from Panettiere, who, let's face it, is just too sweet to be movie-prom queen material.
