Scar, The

aka: Blizna
Poland 1976, 112 minutes
Dir. Krzysztof Kieslowski
In Polish with English subtitles
Genres: Foreign Cinema, Drama

Aroview: Dir. Kieslowski's debut theatrical feature follows on from his earlier documentary work in dramatising what happens when a large chemical plant is constructed in a backward Polish town.

Quite objective in conveying the perspectives of staunchly-opposed townsfolk, Communist Party officials and those caught in-between, this perhaps lacks a clear message, yet it is possible to see Kieslowski's later concerns with intersecting and conflicting viewpoints germinating in this more straightforward treatment.
