Whisperer in Darkness, TheWhisperer in Darkness, The (2011)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) Great Lovecraft adaptation from people who know and love the source material. Quite low budget, but what they had is all on the screen. Highly recommended.
Hellraiser 3: Hell on EarthHellraiser 3: Hell on Earth (1992)
3 stars (Good Enough) The series took a bit of a down turn with this one. Pretty much turning Pinhead into a horror movie slasher. Still entertaining and with some great effects and designs. Still better than some of the films in the franchise to come.
Hellraiser 2: HellboundHellraiser 2: Hellbound (1988)
4 stars (Very Good) This one is as good as the first, but very different and on a much broader canvas. All the favourite monsters are back and a few new one join in as well. Great way to spend an evening is watching these back to back.
HellraiserHellraiser (1987)
4 stars (Very Good) This (and the first sequel) are my favourite horror films. I think they have aged fairly well and it still looks great. The designs were groundbreaking at the time and hold up really well. I watch this on a very regular basis, love it.
Thing, TheThing, The (2011)
3 stars (Good Enough) This could have been so good. The first 2 thirds are actually worthy of the original, but the film is let down by some horrible CGI (why did they cover up the physical effects) and the terrible ending. An OK watch, but not a patch on the original.
Thing, TheThing, The (1982)Aro Favourite
5 stars (Exceptional) This is one of the best sci–fi horror films ever, on the same level as \"Alien\". A totally frightening film that draws the viewer in, grabs them and doesn\'t let go until the end. Great film!
Army of DarknessArmy of Darkness (Evil Dead 3) (1992)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) This is a lot of fun, gone is the horror and replaced with slapstick comedy and cheesy fantasy, but Bruce Campbell is great again and the film is just pure entertainment.
Evil Dead, TheEvil Dead, The (1981)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) The Evil Dead is still a truly great horror film. It is extremely gory and no one is safe. This was one of the notorious \"Video Nasties\" because of one scene, but the rest of the film is pretty harrowing as well. A must see.
Evil Dead 2Evil Dead 2 (1987)Aro Favourite
4 stars (Very Good) A true classic. More comedy than the first but this is the film that made Bruce Campbell an icon of the genre. Pretty gory (again, not as much as the first) but so much fun and has one of the best commentary\'s ever.
UndeadUndead (2002)
3 stars (Good Enough) This is heaps of fun, good gory zombie action made for about the catering budget of most movies. Some really great moments and an interesting twist on the genre in the end.
DaybreakersDaybreakers (2009)
3 stars (Good Enough) Clever concept, great vampire designs and a compelling cast make this worth a look. Has some flaws, but if you are looking for an entertaining hour and a half, you could do worse.
30 Days of Night30 Days of Night (2007)
3 stars (Good Enough) In a time where vampire cinema is \"infected\" with sparkling vamps, its great to see true vampires doing their bloody thing. Stunning film to look at and some excellent effects. Not for the weak stomach though.
Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the UnicornAdventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn (2011)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) This is the best \"Spielberg\" film since \"Jurassic Park\". He is back to his fun action adventure best here. The film looks incredible and it must be seen in 3D, its the way the film makers intended.
Pan's LabyrinthPan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto del fauno) (2006)Aro Favourite
5 stars (Exceptional) This is now my favourite film. A beautiful adult fairytale with some striking imagery and brutal violence. GDT has crafted a film of two stories that intertwine to create one of the best films ever made.
Apocalypse NowApocalypse Now (1979)Aro Favourite
5 stars (Exceptional) For many years this was my favourite film. Harrowing, stunning, brilliant and totally insane are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think about this film. I must see but prepare myself for exhaustion.
Alien ResurrectionAlien Resurrection (1997)
3 stars (Good Enough) I really like bits of this, the cast are great and overall the creatures are well done (except for some dodgy CGI). The film looks amazing, but they fall back on too much gross out and not enough \"Alien–ness\".
Alien 3Alien 3 (1992)
4 stars (Very Good) This has become my 2nd favourite in the series over the years. Works much better now than when it first came out. The directors cut is very good. Great atmosphere and creepiness.
AliensAliens (1986)Aro Favourite
4 stars (Very Good) This is my least favourite of the series. Don\'t get me wrong, it is a great film, but I don\'t think it \"fits\" the rest of the series. The Aliens are too stupid and are far too easy to kill.
AlienAlien (1979)Aro Favourite
5 stars (Exceptional) The best of the series, Ridley Scott has crafted a truly creepy, claustrophobic classic that holds up as well today as it did 30 years ago. A must see.
PrometheusPrometheus (2012)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) Thoroughly enjoyed this. I think it is an excellent addition to the ALIEN universe. Stunning film to look at, yes, there are some script issues, but put those aside and just enjoy the ride.
[REC] Genesis[REC] Genesis (REC 3) (2012)
1 star (Turkey) After the first two \"REC\" films, I was so looking forward to this. Unfortulately, this is one of the worst sequels ever. Gone is the \"first person\" shooting style. What it is left is a cheesy zombie flick. Forget it.
Rare Exports - A Christmas TaleRare Exports - A Christmas Tale (2010)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) This is my new favourite Christmas film (sorry Die Hard).
Fall, TheFall, The (2006)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) This is truly one of the most visually beautiful films I have ever seen. I reminded me a lot of \"Pan\'s Labyrinth\". The cast is great and it has a compelling story that compliments the visuals perfectly.
