Evita
Aroview: The Broadway Extravaganza, complete with Madonna, wall-to-wall songs and political melodrama, is bravely swallowed whole by Hollywood. Madonna excels in enacting the rags-to-riches story of Argentine First Lady Eva Peron, playing, well, a celebrity-lover. Apart from a rather wooden Antonio Banderas, it all works gorgeously well under the dab musical hand of Alan Parker, and the melodic genius of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

2 stars (Good Try) Musically not every segment works and it close to being described as a one tuner. However, the set design and wardrobe people do a great job and help to soothe the passage of the lengthy running time. ~Tubbs
4 stars (Very Good) A great fanciful but memorable musical drama. I happen to think it is Madonna's best work. She's terrific! ~Sandy
