Better Luck Tomorrow

Aroview: Spinning a novel twist on a few cliches, this parable concerns a group of bored Asian-American high schoolers in Orange County, California who busy themselves with cheating, guns, drugs, hookers and petty crime.

All affluent suburbanites, Shen and co. grapple with the cues of teenage life with cocky disrespect and a shortage of moral values, while maintaining an outwardly civic-minded appearance. Addressing a social milieu that has gone largely unexamined, this is occasionally uneven, yet still groundbreaking and shot with glossy watchablility.
