Aroview: Anne Rice’s literary vampire Lestat, last seen as Tom Cruise in INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, (here Stuart Townsend) shrugs off a 200 year sleep to recreate himself as the lead-singer of a goth rock band.

Gathering about him a posse of bloodsuckers including Lena Olin, Vincent Perez and the Egyptian queen of the title, played by singer Aaliyah. Cobbled together out of vapid MTV-style fragments, the blood appears to have already drained from this particular franchise.

1 star (Turkey) A very disappointing Anne Rice screen adaptation, Queen of the Damned fails to live up to the book or to the previous adaptation 'Interview with the Vampire'. Biggest highlight is the soundtrack - skip the film. ~Tom H
