Genres: Drama / Epic, Prison
Topics: African-American.
Aroview: Following THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, the director adapts another Stephen King prison-set story as a melancholic epic of injustice and humanity.
A dim-witted giant (Michael Clarke Duncan) accused of double child murder displays a miraculous healing power that touches the soulless personnel on Death Row, including veteran guard Tom Hanks. A lavish, meticulous fantasy drama, weighed down by the detail of King's serialised novel.

5 stars (Exceptional) Another Stephen King story of an innocent man in prison, this is a highly emotional story with a strong fantasy element. Very long, with many spine-tingling moments, and you may shed some tears by the end. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) A gentle giant with supernatural powers wrongly accused of a heinous crime sits on death row, and touches the lives of fellow inmates and prison guards. Powerful performances, some gruesome scenes, but a definite tear-jerker. ~GenXGirl
4 stars (Very Good) A tad lenghty, but full of power and emotion as well as an often overlooked, but brilliant supporting performance from Sam Rockwell. ~Wizzums
