Aroview: A breakthrough film of the 70s, this account of a chance encounter, then torrid affair between Maria Schneider and Marlon Brando, is artfully glossy, impressing now more for its frank portrayal of the emotional desperation behind an essentially empty liaison. Brando's performance in particular is superb.
