Street Fight
Aroview: Director Marshall Curry's (IF A TREE FALLS) first film is this Oscar-nominated political documentary detailing the 2002 mayoral campaign of Cory Booker, a young community activist and City Council member, against 16-year incumbent mayor Sharpe James.
Through the course of the film, Booker's life is examined, which started off in a public housing project, where his African American family struggled with poverty. Curry also details corruption in the James campaign, with acts of sabotage that descend into the political street fight of the title. An illuminating ground-level look at the world of political campaigning in a broken electoral system.
