“A white-knuckle survival film with an outstanding cast.”~Rafer Guzman, Newsday
Aroview: This lavishly mounted account of the ill-fated climbing expedition that claimed the life of New Zealand mountaineer Rob Hall is especially impressive as a production feat in spite of the customary factual "liberties".
Jason Clarke is perfectly cast as Hall, and Josh Brolin and Jake Gyllenhaal are particularly at home in the gruelling adventure playground of the location shoot, plus there's the incidental amusement of Emily Watson and Keira Knightley(!) curling their tongues around the Kiwi accent.
From the Icelandic director of equally chilly JAR CITY, the story was previous filmed as INTO THIN AIR (1997).
