Aro Recommended Everest: Beyond the Limit (TV Mini-Series)

USA 2006, 270 minutes
Rating: [PG]
Genres: Documentary / Adventure

Aroview: A gruelling Discovery Channel mini-series following a group of ambitious mountaineers, led by Kiwi climber Russell Brice, on their quest to reach the sacred summit of Everest on an April / May 06 attempt. Kiwi double-amputee Mark Inglis (recently featured on 'This is Your Life') lends an interesting facet to the team as he attempts to scale the mountain with prosthetic legs.

This beautifully crafted production benefits from the use of pint sized cameras attached to the climbers that give the audience a heightened idea of what it feels like to be there. Overall, this series succeeds because of its focus on the human drama and drive of the situation and its attempts to uncover why these dedicated climbers fork out so much money to have the opportunity to potentially reach the top of the world.
