Australia 2007, 103 minutes
Dir. Mark Hartley
Genres: Documentary / Film History
Topics: Period 1970s, Period 1980s.
Aroview: Informative and bloody amusing exploration of the dubious ocker 'Ozploitation' films of the 1970's and 80's, celebrating the joyously cheap and nasty thrills with maverick film-makers and actors themselves across the three key subgenres; sex, horror, and violence.
Dusting off many forgotten classics and anti-classics from the archives, this wild and sometimes eye-popping doc provides a veritable feast of clips of these bastard sons of Australian cinema, if not quite restoring their dignity, then certainly rescuing them from obscurity. Leading the charge of the renaissance as usual, is Mr. Cult Movies himself, Quentin Tarantino.

5 stars (Exceptional) One of the best film-related documentaries I have ever seen, 'Not Quite Hollywood' explores the otherwise untold tales of Australian exploitation and grindhouse flicks, complete with director and actor commentaries, and a cool visual presentation. ~Tom H
5 stars (Exceptional) You'll find yourself collecting cult Aussie films. ~Tubbs
