Aro Recommended Tintin and the Mystery of the Golden Fleece

France / Belgium 1961, 93 minutes
Dir. Jean-Jacques Vierne
In French, Turkish, Greek with English subtitles
Rating: [PG]
Genres: Foreign Cinema, Family / Adventure

Aroview: One of two live-action adaptations of Herge’s Tintin adventures, this stars a look-alike Jean-Pierre Talbot as the eponymous boy wonder, along with his three sidekicks in tow: Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus, and canine companion Snowy.

When the Captain inherits a rusty vessel named the “Golden Fleece”, he is propositioned by a shady businessman, much to the curiosity of Tintin and co. A colourful Greek locale, regular Haddock comedy moments, and some spot on casting nicely captures the Herge’s vision.
