Spain / Italy / Germany 1969, 90 minutes
Dir. Jess Franco
Genres: Cult / Sexploitation, Prison
Aroview: Fiery, if comparatively contained first-time outing for cult dir. Jess Franco in the ‘women in prison’ genre: a rowdy sexploitation romp through a slammer of sadistic captors, flesh and bloodletting, and the inevitable inmate uprising.
Drop-dead gorgeous Maria Rohm stars as an innocent imprisoned and at the mercy of a tyrant prison warden (a camp Mercedes McCambridge!), and while this isn’t without sophisticated flourishes, Franco’s hot and heavy sleaze-o-vision means the film regularly perspires caged heat.

3 stars (Good Enough) The movie that kicked off the entire Women In Prison craze of the '70s when it unexpectedly went to the top of the US box office, it's tame compared to later movies and a great introduction to the unique charms of Senor Franco. ~Pearce
