Aroview: SILENCE OF THE LAMBS creator Thomas Harris pens this original back-story to Hannibal Lecter’s murderous reign, in which we’re privy to the early gory details of one of cinema’s best loved villains.
Pre-dating RED DRAGON, Harris and dir. Webber treat us to a mini-biography; a portrait of the artist as it were, on his way to becoming the sociopath with a cannibalistic fetish in what is likely to be a final nail in the character’s coffin. The psychological intrigue only simmers this time around, but there’s a feeling that the character-rounding is complete, if not dead and buried for good.

		- 3 stars (Good Enough) An interesting 'origins' story that swings back and forward between an historical and psychological reasoning of Hannibal's behaviour, and vicious outbursts of unexplainable violence. ~Tom H
- 2 stars (Good Try) A promising initial ten minutes then things get silly. A bit of restraint would have helped the viewer to maintain interest.I can never understand why female characters in films fall for the obvious bad guy - and in this case even a psychopath. ~Tubbs
