Aroview: Clive Owen is pursued across a dystopian England of 2027 in this stimulating, pertinent sci-fi parable, rendered with stunning virtuosity by dir. Alfonso Cuaron.
Decay, despair and terrorism rule the land, but something far more dire is occurring: there have been no new human babies born since 2009. In a series of constantly exciting and surprising sequences, Owen navigates his way through a labyrinth of hostility and deception with the most precious of cargo; a pregnant mother, on whom may rest the fate of the human race. Captured in ground-breakingly elaborate takes and full-blown production design, this is a red carpet tour of the end of days, frightening in its all-too-possible implications.

4 stars (Very Good) A very human and moving future world, gritty and down-to-earth, and brilliantly captured with impressively elaborate and chaotic single-shot sequences. ~Tom H
5 stars (Exceptional) Made in 2006, predicts refugee crisis & rise of the fascist state. 2027: Illegal aliens kept in cages by armed soldiers, police everywhere. Disturbing, enthralling: a gripping story, vivid characters - political and social commentary so relevant. ~Cruella
4 stars (Very Good) The screenplay is very impressive and convincing and together with the set designs create a believable and frightening scenario. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) Hatred of refugees in England well-captured in this frightening but not unconvincing vision of the future. Exceptional extras on disc 2, especially the last: "The Possibility of Hope" by James Lovelock etc. Convincing must-watch predictions. ~Anon
