Cannibal Ferox

Aroview: Prime example of the notorious "Cannibal" subgenre of Italian horror films, that creates a dubious mythology of its own as it exploits our mythical fears of being tortured and eaten by jungle savages.

Here, three anthropologists venture to remote South America in search of the truth about cannibalism, while two drug-dealers on the lam provide a sub-plot and a moral contrast, and generally get what they deserve! Though trimmed in this version of its sickening "animal cruelty", this is typically cheap and tacky but effectively fakes the reality of its 'lost civilization', creating a taboo-breaking atmosphere where anything might happen.
