Love is Colder Than Death

aka: Liebe ist kälter als der Tod
Germany 1969, 88 minutes, black and white
Dir. Rainer Werner Fassbinder
In German with English subtitles
Rating: [M] Violence & nudity.
Genres: Foreign Cinema, Drama, Suspense/Crime / Gangsters

Aroview: The first in a loose trilogy of gangster films directed by prolific German iconoclast Rainer Werner Fassbinder early in his career.

Fassbinder himself plays a small-time pimp who runs into trouble when a mobster invites him to join the local crime syndicate. His first feature length film, and a fine example of his early style, which was influenced by Jean-Luc Godard, and clearly demonstrated his strong background in German theatre.
