“Compelling as a whodunnit, touching as a coming-of-age story, insightful as a picture of race relations and crafty as a drama about secrets, concealing a few of its own for a final, satisfying reveal”~Luke Buckmaster, The Guardian
Aroview: A nostalgic portrait of Australian childhood in the summer of '69 that tells the story of a bookish boy who finds himself caught up in a local murder mystery and facing the racial tensions of his stifling small-town, whilst falling in love and learning the meaning of courage. Adapted from Craig Silvey's bestselling novel.
4 stars (Very Good) Apart from the outstanding performances of all the young stars, it's the great karri trees of remote SW Australia which make this gem shine. Pacey & complex plot flawed only by the Aussie list into melodrama at times. Strongly recommended.~Sandy
