“A deeply affecting treatise on marriage, poverty and the struggles of sons to confront the long shadow of the man who brought them into this world. ”~Screen International
Aroview: August Wilson faithfully adapts his Pulitzer Prize-winning stageplay for the screen with Denzel Washington directing and starring as a working-class African-American father in the 1950s trying to raise his family while coming to terms with past events of his life.

2 stars (Good Try) Denzel and Viola are fine as expected. The play adaptation is heavy on dialogue and at times you are bombarded with it giving you no time to digest what they are saying. The set designs and wardrobe are spot on.~tubbs
