Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The
“A fastidiously grim pulp entertainment that plays like a first-class train ride through progressively bleaker circles of hell.”~Justin Chang, Variety
Aroview: David Fincher helms this electrifying big-budget remake of the dynamite Swedish thriller, adapted from Stieg Larsson's worldwide bestseller.
Deviating only cosmetically from the original, this can't escape the feeling of deja vu for familiar viewers, but the story and treatment are muscular enough to compensate the lack of surprises. Crucially preserving the Swedish setting, this is as good as one could expect from Hollywood, though only the next best thing to reading the books.

4 stars (Very Good) Fincher is excellent with dark material, and the story is well told, well acted, and very gripping throughout. A little longer than necessary, but still highly recommended. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) If you need to watch this version don't see the original first. ~tubbs
