Aroview: Hard-nosed prison drama follows the fate of a caring father (Dorff) who finds himself incarcerated inside a maximum security prison after accidentally killing a burglar at his family home.
Filmed at the New Mexico State Penitentiary with claustrophobic hand-held camerawork, this quite convincingly plots out the escalating troubles of an innocent man caught up in the dehumanising dog-eat-dog prison environment, surrounded by brutish thugs (including some actual inmates!) and one particularly malevolent prison guard (a scary Harold Perrineau). An easy resolution softens the menace, but the uniformly strong performances are anything but comforting.
