Breach
Aroview: A first-rate dramatic thriller that pits spy against spy on the American homefront, based on the true story of the FBI's internal investigation of a long-serving officer (Chris Cooper) who is suspected of breaching national security on an unprecedented scale.
Ryan Phillipe proves he's more than a pretty face as the operative posing as his naïve underling, but its long-time character actor Cooper that carries himself and this picture into a different class. Dir. Billy Ray also raises his game after his under-rated debut SHATTERED GLASS (another true story of spectacular deception), with a weightier project that still manages to cut through the jargon and complexity of events without seeming simplistic.

5 stars (Exceptional) gripping, with superlative performances all around. ~ravioliwonton
5 stars (Exceptional) Thank heavens for Billy Ray...meticulous, unflashy direction and mise-en-scene (sorry, pretentious) and knockout performances from everybody. Mychael Danna's score comprehensively rips off Carter Burwell, however. ~HiFi
3 stars (Good Enough) Chris Cooper and Laura Linney a class above the rest. ~tubbs
