- Look Both Ways (2005)
- Great music! Terrific plot & acting. Moving and, in its way, profound. Justine Clarke is brilliant! Recommended.
- Annette (2021)
- A seriously weird musical! Amazing visuals and sound quality. The start is good, but it's over–extended. Spectacular, but lacking in worthwhile ideas.
- DVD $29.95, $34.95
- Wendy and Lucy (2008)
- Quiet & moving. Life as a vagrant in the Pacific northwest. Slow. Sure shows how inhospitable most Americans are, compared with most other cultures. Money is the thing that matters most, to poor or rich, its the same. A "Great Society" – yeah, right!
- Quiet Girl, The (An Cailín Ciúin) (2022)
- Intense, economical. Great subtlety. Wonderfully captures the view of a child. Every frame a perfect one – even the domestic interiors. A small, but perfect film.
- DVD $29.95
- Official Competition (Competencia Oficial) (2021)
- Stylish in the extreme, but pretentious; not really a comedy. Fluctuates wildly from farce to melodrama. Surrealistically good acting, especially by Cruz & Banderas. The hilarious Press Conference is a highlight!
- Bound for Glory (1976)
- Slightly dated style but wonderfully done. Interesting story, never flags, of a USA that is unfamiliar today. Worth it just to see the many vintage vehicles of all kinds, though I don't recall that trousers were that tight in the 30s. Very informative.
- Passion Fish (1992)
- Underplayed, as usual. Sayles has incredible imagination & the movie is filled with unforgettable characters. Sayles is a genius & this is a truly great movie with subtlety at many levels.
- Cal (1984)
- Not a romance but a political thriller. Complex, but subtitles would have helped. A very sad film, well–showing the dev. of the system underpinning Ulster. Unusual, unpredictable, gripping. Well made & acted ; plot has gruelling aspects
- Harlan County USA (1976)
- Totally unique, with unmissable extras! 70% of the coal companies were owned by big oil companies. They had many chances to express their views. A key page in the Women's Movement occurred when wives & daughters took over the barricades.
- Secret of Roan Inish, The (1994)
- Staggeringly good! Literally an enchanting story. Wonderful acting by three of the main players, for whom this was their first movie. Enormous credit to Sayles. Scenery also lovely. Not enough stars!
