Aroview: A bittersweet sci-fi reflection on the possibility of a love when an individual exists in simultaneous parallel worlds.
Constructed around the story frame of a mystery, in which police investigate the death of McMamus (in one world), while memories of enigmatic women (all played by Swinton) swim in his consciousness. A challenging, but essentially poetic journey, this is perhaps dir. Lepage's most low-key and successful effort yet to transfer his theatrical sensibility to cinema.
Beautifully measured visuals and soundscapes are also effective in constructing a melancholy, yet oddly humourous excursion.
