Aroview: Unnerving imagery and soundscapes abound in the Japanese director's remake of his own horror film for a western audience, that while recast with American faces, remains set in its native Japan (Gellar playing an exchange student).
Only really necessary for those that haven't peeked at the original, this is at least identical in format; a tableaux of set pieces set around a suburban dwelling haunted by vengeful apparitions. - 3 stars (Good Enough) I hadn't watched the original (2003) in quite a while so this was fresh. There are some genuinely scary moments even when they are signaled ahead and expected. ~Tubbs
- 3 stars (Good Enough) Not a patch on the original, but still worth a watch. ~trauma_hound412
