Aroview: The classic Dr Seuss tale of the anarchistic feline is translated into a 'live action' version, with stunning surrealistic set-design and Mike Myer's in the hat.
The story follows two bored children who invite the titular cat to play, whose characteristic pranks and misadventures snowball into jaw-dropping chaos, even threatening the fabric of space and time! Created by one of Tim Burton's chief collaborators, this bears the same hyperreal style, but is comparitively forced in delivery, and without the supple charm of the original. Then again, the intended audience probably won't mind a jot!

3 stars (Good Enough) An entertaining bit of everything including creative set designs, garish colours, animation mixed in with live action and then there is also a kind of cat. Not for the first time a young Dakota Fanning holds her own.~tubbs
