Aroview: Worthy successor to KING KONG, reunites many of the cast and crew, with a compellingly different slant on the 'Giant Ape' premise.

Here, Armstrong plays a circus promoter who journeys to Africa to uncover new attractions and comes across a girl whose best friend is a 4-metre high pet gorilla. Persuading them back to the US, chaos inevitably ensues, but this retains a warm, affecting tone throughout given the sympathetic characterisations. Several action sequences also improve on its illustrious predecessor. Was weakly remade in 1999.
