In a casualty ward, he wakes up from the trenches to the nightmare of quadriplegia, unable to communicate with anyone around him. Despite the sometimes rudimentary filming, this remains recommended viewing. Sidenote - was the inspiration for heavy-rock band Metallica's song 'One".
