Aro Recommended Othello

Italy 1952, 93 minutes, black and white
Dir. Orson Welles
Rating: [G]
Genres: Classics, Drama / Shakespeare

Aroview: Dir. Welles filmed Shakespeare's great tragedy over four years in Europe and North Africa, and despite some patchy moments, turned in probably the most cinematic version yet.

Welles plays the Moor who is deceived by his lieutenant into murdering his wife, but his greatest role here is behind the camera, producing a visually striking near-masterpiece.
