Without the thematic agenda or insight of the best of its ilk (LAWS OF GRAVITY, KILLING OF A CHINESE BOOKIE), this still vividly conveys the grimy desperation of its lowlife hustlers, pimps and whores, with the acting given texture through an ensemble that mixes seasoned vets with novices. Also features several cameos of note.
