Aroview: An impressive, unromanticised view of an aging cowpuncher – played by Charlton Heston in possibly his finest dramatic performance – as he struggles by over a winter in the northern territories.
Beset by the inhospitable society of the time and a loner’s mentality, he finds real trouble in the form of psychotic preacher Donald Pleasance and his family of ingrates. Even a possibly sentimental subplot concerning Joan Hackett, finds a realistic denouement. Crisply photographed by Lucien Ballard.
