Aroview: Slight but bright “indie” comedy about a precocious, Voltaire-reading 15-year-old with misplaced romantic designs on his stepmother! (Sigourney Weaver).
The stand-out cast (newcomer Aaron Stanford is a find, Bebe Neuwirth is just right, plus the under-rated John Ritter) and the idealized, uptown New York setting both sparkle in the face of flatly shot digital video, and the observant script works especially when it stays on just the right side of farce.
