Erin Brockovich
Aroview: An interesting and successful marriage of a Hollywood star vehicle (Julia Roberts) and independent credentials (dir. Soderbergh), that takes an earthy, 70s-style approach to tell the true story of the mother-of-three who uncovered and initiated indictments against corporate giant PG & E for contaminating a residential water supply.
An aptly salty, larger-than-life script befits the feisty-but-good-hearted title character played by Roberts, a showcase role that packs her frame into low-cut blouses and short skirts, and a just-as-head-turning take-no-crap attitude. Albert Finney lends his esteemed pedigree as her crumpled lawyer boss, while Aaron Eckhart in the bikie boyfriend role is a deadringer for Sam Elliott's in MASK.

4 stars (Very Good) Perfectly scripted, shot, scored, cast and paced film that shows just how good mainstream cinema for grownups can be. ~HiFi
3 stars (Good Enough) Noisy performance from Roberts - no need for the Eckhart character - however still watchable. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) Perfect tight scripting, cast & acting shows what Hollywood is capable of. A really important film; no fantasy this but gritty reality, as relevant here as in California. It's a great film, serious and funny. Watch the extras too - meet the real Erin! ~Anon
