Will It Snow for Christmas?

France 1996, 91 minutes
Dir. Sandrine Veysset
In French with English subtitles
Rating: [M]
Genres: Foreign Cinema, Drama

Topics: Peasantry.

Aroview: Not a seasonal film 'for the whole family', rather a slow-paced evocation of hard-won, rural life for an impoverished French family of nine, held together by an enduring mother (a great role for Swiss actress Dominique Reymond). Sometimes grim, especially when the unpleasant father of the brood Daniel Duval is around, but a refreshing lack of sentimentality blows through this part of the countryside.
