Starship Troopers
Aroview: ROBOCOP man Verhoeven's 'ironic' take on Robert Heinlein's 1959 novel about a totalitarian future society whose perfectly toned young 'citizens' wage an enthusiastic war with alien bugs.
Though tech-heads will marvel at the exhaustive CGI effects on display, the insectile enemy are a bland mob, and Verhoeven is just too much of an admirer of gung-ho culture to be an effective satirist. This party-poop view, though, continues to fall on deaf ears...

4 stars (Very Good) If the Nazis ran our world in the future, this would be their propaganda piece de resistence. It's a sick joke, I know, but it gives this tale of Ken & Barbie Killing Bugs a horribly funny, knowing edge to the shamelessness on display. Best CGI ever, too ~fairbrother
3 stars (Good Enough) Original - Enjoyable with great creatures. Starship Troopers 3: pretty routine fare (2 stars). ~Tubbs
4 stars (Very Good) ~Wyatt Earp
