A Word, The (TV Series)
“The show has helped to dramatise and spread awareness of autism - as well as being a compelling family drama with emotionally rich and complex characters.”~Ben Travis, London Evening Standard
Aroview: An absorbing and well-written BBC drama series, about a family who suspect that their five-year-old son Joe's listening difficulties and encyclopaedic music knowledge might be symptoms of autism. Deservedly praised for its portrayal of the condition, but a bit heavy-handed in terms of the wider family dysfunction - just about every character is angry most of the time, and young Joe is easily the most well-adjusted person in his family. Nonetheless, well worth watching.
