Ennio: The Maestro
Aroview: A celebration of the life and legacy of the legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone, anchored around an interview with film-maker Giuseppe Tornatore (Cinema Paradiso) shortly before his death at the age of 91.
It is an entertaining deep dive on one of the world’s most famous composers (whose discography exceeds 500 soundtracks) that skillfully weaves through footage of his star-studded filmography and interviews with his collaborators, including Bernado Bertolucci, Dario Argento, Oliver Stone, Clint Eastwood and Quentin Tarantino.
The film spans Ennio’s early career in TV commercials and pop music, his iconic work Leone’s Spaghetti Westerns and Argento’s giallo films all the way to Hollywood, which saw the composer find mainstream success working with the likes of John Carpenter, Brian De Palma and Tarantino.
