“The wages of greed and excess portrayed in grand, operatic, often very funny style.”~Hollywood Reporter
Aroview: Martin Scorsese directs this dazzling biopic of the deplorable life and times of stockbroker Jordan Belfort, a notorious Wall Street upstart who swindled millions and poured it into a lifestyle of crime, hedonism, and corruption.
While controversial for its alleged glamourization of immoral behaviour, Scorsese takes a showman's approach to the material while the sophisticated script consistently places the characters on the rightful receiving end of its barbed satire. In other words, the message is greed is not good, but this film about greed is very much so.
Average rating (Good Enough). Showing 1-2 of 2 member reviews.
3 stars (Good Enough) Two-and-some hours of raucous, sometimes very funny (but repetitive) amorality, then Scorsese hedges his bets in a disappointingly conventional manner. ~HiFi
2 stars (Good Try) Scorsese does well by giving shallow characters the shallow treatment. The last two hours are repetitive. McConaughey has a standout cameo. ~Tubbs
