“A wonderful movie, observant and hilarious and full of sad and beautiful truths.”~Slate
Aroview: Writer/director Nicole Holofcener moves into the first division with her fifth feature film, a savvy divorcee rom-com in perfect accord with the charms of Julia Louis-Dreyfus (SEINFELD, VEEP) and the late James Gandolfini (SOPRANOS), playing against type as a kind-hearted empty nester.
While her previous films have all been comedies for the "thinking woman", this one strips back the usual ensemble to more fully develop a central character whose best and worst qualities (as mother, friend and lover) are mixed to highly relatable effect - its wit and wisdom feels worthy of Woody Allen's best bittersweet dramadies. Toni Collette and Catherine Keener (a Holofcener regular) as Louis-Dreyfus' female confidantes are also present and correct.
