Purge, The

Aroview: In the near future, the moral fibre of a family is tested when their house is invaded by a stranger on the night of the 'purge', an annual 12-hour period where all crime is sanctioned without consequence.

By turns preposterous and fascinating, this plays as a blunt statement on the human condition through the trappings of genre, and is most effectively as a tense siege movie with occasional action flourishes.
